Automate the Busy Work, Keep the Human Part
I just joined on The Thoughtful Entrepreneur to talk about AI in sales and what we’re building at YouEx.ai.
The problem isn’t a shortage of AI tools
Most sales teams already have more AI than they know what to do with. What they don’t have is a connected workflow. A rep finds a prospect on LinkedIn, copies details into a spreadsheet, looks up the company somewhere else, pastes notes into the CRM, and then writes the email from scratch. Every tool in that chain might be “AI-powered.” The rep is still the integration layer.
That’s the real cost. It isn’t the subscription fees. It’s the hours your best people spend moving data between tabs instead of talking to buyers.
One workflow, from first conversation to booked meeting
What we’ve built at YouEx.ai starts where the buyer shows up: your website. An AI agent on the site answers questions, at any hour, and captures what the visitor actually cares about across multiple visits. That conversation gets logged in the CRM automatically. The lead gets researched against public data to figure out who they are and whether they can buy. It gets scored in real time and routed to the right person. By the time a rep sees it, there’s a brief and a follow-up already drafted.
A few numbers from our own customers’ sites:
7,000+ buyer conversations
62% of those started outside business hours
100+ meetings booked inside the conversation itself
72.5% of web form submissions were junk, compared with 2.9% from live conversations
Forms are a filter that lets the wrong bots in and makes the right people wait.
Co-pilot, not autopilot
Josh and I spent a good part of the conversation on governance. My view is simple: AI should arm your reps, not replace them. The system does the research, the scoring and the first draft. A human reviews, edits and decides what goes out. Nothing sends without approval.
That’s partly about quality, because a person with context catches things a model won’t. It’s partly about trust, because buyers can tell when nobody’s home. And it’s increasingly about compliance, since transparency in AI-driven communication is quickly becoming a requirement rather than a courtesy.
Your content is a sales asset you’re not using
We also got into something specific to Josh’s world. Podcast libraries, video archives and webinar back catalogs are full of useful material that almost nobody can find. Index them with an AI agent and a prospect can search your whole catalog by topic, framework or guest, and have a conversation with it. Content you already made starts doing sales enablement.
The short version
Take the manual admin out of the workflow rather than adding another tool to it
Let AI handle research, scoring and drafts, and keep humans on judgment and relationships
Be transparent about where AI is in the loop
Treat your website and your content as places where conversations start, not static brochures
Thanks to Josh and the Up My Influence team for having me.
